This table makes use of some sturdy metal legs and 1x8s on a heavy 2×4 frame. The planks are spaced just enough to allow rain to drain off. The look is completed with some affordable outdoor mesh chairs from the At Home store.

My husband’s uncle made several of these desks for this school-age kids in the family. Decades later it was still in great shape under years of dust in an old barn. We restored it and added a little color and think the result was great.

We got one of those TVs you hang on the wall and needed a place to put the gadgets we plug into the television.  So this simple 2×4 and 1×4 entertainment center provides light yet sturdy storage for all that stuff!

These were made for a work surface, so we used standard stain and poly.  For a food-quality surface, a food-quality resin can be used We fastened two craft-board pieces together to make a standard thickness tabletop.  The sections were joined at an angle to form an L-shaped desk, sitting-height section, and cabinet topper.
